Cheshire based Richard and Eric Clarkson have had an exceptional year, rearing on contract around 10,000 Turkeys for the Christmas Market.
The birds arrived at Park Farm, Over Peover, Cheshire in August this year at 6 weeks of age and went into the straw based pole-barn type buildings with outside access. The birds were started on Massey's Turkey Grower 23 pellets followed by Massey Turkey Grower 21 and 19 pellets, before they were finished on Massey Turkey Finisher pellets.
The flock managed to exceed their target weight by up to 1kg and the mortality rate was less than 1%. Exceptional results.
The birds reared were Hockenhull whites, Hockenhull Bronzes, Wirral White, Wirral Bronzes and Devon Bronzes. The birds will be sold at liveweights ranging from 5kg to 12kg.
